Affairs of State: Audiobook and Awards!
I usually write about politics, science, and society, but today it’s shameless self promotion: I won the silver medal IPPY Award (the highly respected Independent Publishers Book Awards) for my novel, Affairs of State! And even better, the audiobook is released, narrated by the award-winning Timothy Andrés Pabon.
Tim is truly amazing. I hired him because of his 500 titles, multiple prestigious awards, and the audition he provided me. I knew I was on the right track. But when I got the audiobook from him … wow!! He added incredible emotion, nuance, and excitement, things I never dreamed of. He made the characters real. I thought I’d written a pretty good novel (happily, the reviewers agree), but Tim breathed life and color into it. It was a true pleasure, genuinely awe-inspiring, to hear my own creation brought to life with Tim’s artistry.
And the IPPY award — what a thrill to get that email! There are plenty of “contests” out there with varying degrees of legitimacy, but this one is the real McCoy. I’m honored and humbled. They have an awards ceremony coming up; I’m hoping my schedule will allow me to attend.
Fun fact: it appears that almost all of the bad reviews are from MAGA believers! It kinda gives me a hoot to read them. Check these out from Amazon:
Made me laugh. Apparently they don’t like it when you write the truth about the right-wing conspiracy to undermine our constitution.
For those of you new to this novel, it’s a great political thriller, with serious political themes.
